Good write up for a forgotten band. You might want to check out their EP (Mad River) which was released before the first album. Similar to the debut but not as weird-sounding.
Thanks. I have it on a comp CD and I like it although the remake of Windchimes on the first album is better because it loses the irritating chanting. Also hear Jersey Sloo, a 12" with some unreleased demos and a great book (it's 12x12 and a quarter inch think with the best biography of the band). This was released around 2010 or so. I attended two Mad River shows in Fresno back in the ancient day. Great.
